Broadly conceptualized, Dr. Brewer's research focuses on the impact(s) of privatization and marketization of public education by way of school vouchers, charter schools, and homeschooling.  He is also interested in the impact that alternative teacher certification programs, like Teach For America, have had - and continue to have - on the teaching profession and public education.  Additionally, he is interested in the role of venture philanthropy in education reform.
